The SLIS Book Bonanza for the Black Belt (and Beyond) program annually donates new, free children’s and young adult books to multiple school libraries in the state’s Black Belt region and to two "beyond" school libraries in an economically deprived area of the state outside the Black Belt region.
 
To apply, school librarians should complete an online application on the "Apply Now" page and submit it by midnight on February 26, 2024. Only completed applications will be accepted.

By March 19th, at least three winning Black Belt school libraries and two "beyond" school libraries will be selected. Each school library will receive on average over $3000 worth of free NEW books. Once notified, winning school librarians will coordinate with representatives from the School of Library and Information Studies at The University of Alabama for delivery of their free books.
